Mesa Arch Sunrise

Let’s Face it, when most people think of the southwestern United States, the image that cross their minds are that of the Moab area. This area famous for arches, towers, canyons, and some of the darkest sky’s in the country, it is clear that this place is like no other. There is no shortage of incredible scenery available in southeastern Utah. Home to two National Parks, along with an additional 1.8 million acres of BLM managed public lands, the opportunities for unique photos is truly endless. There are vast expanses of red rock go on as far as the eye can see. This is truly a wonderful place and no doubt a must on any photographer’s bucket list.

On this three-day two-night hiking and vehicle-based photo Workshop you will be granted the opportunity to photograph some of Utah’s most iconic landscapes, as well as some lesser known gems. Our group sizes are kept small so that each photographer gets access to one on one instruction with Cameron. He will ensure you are in position to photograph some truly breathtaking moments. His knowledge of seasonal light and weather patterns will help you to utilize every moment of the magical golden hour light that the desert is so famous for, as well as show you the secrets of capturing the incredible stars that shine over Moab.

We will photograph iconic locales such as Delicate Arch, and Mesa Arch during the optimal time of day to maximize the red hues presented at sunrise or sunset, with optional excursions to more intimate and unique locations in Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Other possible locations include Corona Arch, Wilson Arch, Jeep Arch, and Castle Valley. Locations and times are flexible to allow for the group to move with the light and avoid the crowds whenever possible.

Due to the unique nature of us wanting to shoot almost exclusively the night skies and during sunrise or sunset, this trip results in many early mornings and late evenings. To help ease the burden of this schedule, we will return to our hotel each day mid-morning to rest up and enjoy a meal while reviewing and editing your photos from the days adventures. This time will also allow an opportunity to receive one on one photo processing instruction from Cameron to make the most of those beautiful desert landscapes!

Please note:Due to the nature of the terrain and photo locations our Magic hours of Moab Workshop is a “hiker” trip. Although the purpose of this trip is photography it is best suited for those that like to get out and hike!
